Step back into the golden age of Japanese tinplate toys with this beautiful 1950s tin friction convertible, marked Made in Japan.
This striking red open-top roadster features vibrant lithographed plaid seats, a green dashboard with printed gauges, and chrome-look trim. The friction motor still works perfectly—give it a push and it rolls forward smoothly, just as it did nearly 70 years ago.

This style was produced in postwar Japan by premier makers such as Nomura (T.N.), Yonezawa, and Ichiko, and was exported to the U.S. during the 1950s–early 1960s. Its design closely resembles the American roadsters of that era—part Thunderbird, part Buick Skylark—with a distinct Japanese flair for color and detail.

Condition:
• Working friction motor ✅
• Original paint and lithography with moderate age wear, light scuffs and scratches consistent with age
• Clean black tin underside
• Displays beautifully from every angle
Approximate length 9-10”
Missing two hubcaps on front tires.
